One try and you’ll start looking for excuses to bake another loaf of this applesauce bread! It’s soft, moist, full of warm spices, and ready in an hour. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as an afternoon treat.
Preheat the oven to 350 °F . Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
Whisk the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt together in a medium mixing bowl.
Mix the sugars, yogurt, butter, eggs, applesauce, and vanilla in a second bowl. Add this into the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 60 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Leave to cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter and better incorporation of ingredients.
Mix the batter just until the flour is incorporated. Overmixing leads to a dense or tough bread.
Sprinkle sugar or chopped nuts on top before baking or add frosting or a glaze once the loaf is cool.
Fold in dried cranberries, raisins, or mini chocolate chips to change up the flavor.
Rest the loaf and cool completely before slicing.
Serve: Enjoy with a spread of butter or cream cheese. Pair with coffee or a warm cup of spiced tea. Store: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze individual slices wrapped in plastic and foil for up to 1 month. Reheat slices in the oven until warmed through.
