Author: Jessica Haggard
Bubbly apple cider meets spicy ginger beer in this fall mocktail made for Thanksgiving and family dinners. Fresh lime, maple, and a cinnamon stick in each glass make it a festive drink the whole table can share.
4wholecinnamon sticksdivided (2 for the base, 1 per glass)
1cupginger beer
2portionsice cubes
1smallapplesliced for garnish
Instructions
Add ice cubes to two chilled tall glasses
In a shaker or small pitcher, stir together the apple cider, orange juice, lime juice, and sweetener.
Add 2 cinnamon sticks.
Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
Pour the mixture evenly into the glasses and garnish with apple slices, lime slices, and a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.
Notes
Stir the maple syrup into the juices before the ginger beer goes in. If you're using honey, warm it first so it blends into the cold base.
The base can be mixed up to 1 day ahead and refrigerated. Add ice and ginger beer only at pouring time.
Choose a medium-spice ginger beer. Ginger ale is too mild and sweet to substitute.
Freezing the glasses for a few minutes while you prep gives a colder, fizzier pour.
Optional garnish: fresh cranberries on a cocktail pick.
Serve: Pour into chilled glasses right after mixing, and use fresh ginger beer for refills.Store: Once the ginger beer is added, it goes flat and doesn't keep. The base without ginger beer keeps covered in the fridge for up to 1 day.
